Memory Verse: Ephesians 6:18

by ERICHOLTER on JANUARY 4, 2012

In our effort to grow in our prayer lives in 2012 this week’s memory verse is Ephesian 6:18. You may recognize the reference because this is one of the verses from the prayer flashcard pack posted last November.

There are many kinds of prayers that we offer to God. There are the daily devotional prayers cultivated over our meditation on scripture, there are intercessory prayers, prayers of adoration, and prayers of confession. There also many different times and conditions in which we pray. Sometimes for extended times like when Jesus when to the mountain all night to pray. And sometimes we offer up brief prayers as we encounter daily needs or face daily temptations. This passage from Ephesians reminds us to keep praying in all these ways and at all these times–and for all God’s people. May God strengthen our hands and hearts for the ongoing work of prayer.

Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
